imPRESSion-2026, a Karnataka State-level media fest: Various Competitions for Undergraduate and Post Graduate Students of Arts, Commerce, Science streams

imPRESSion-2026 | Registration Form

imPRESSion-2026 is a platform for undergraduate and postgraduate students to showcase their skills and talents. This is not limited to journalism/media students, this is open to all. Each contest will have three prizes. The team with the highest points will be awarded the overall championship.

Some important instructions:

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students from Karnataka can participate in the competitions.
  • It is mandatory for every participant to have an identity card of their organization.
  • The competitions are not limited to journalism students. Students of various disciplines (arts, commerce and science) can also participate.
  • Participants can use both Kannada and English.
  • A student can participate in a maximum of three competitions. But they can additionally be a member of the group dance team.
  • If one candidate is found to have participated in more than three competitions, that team will be disqualified.
  • More than one student from one college/department can participate in each competition; However, the candidates themselves should be careful not to disturb their participation in other competitions.
  • A specific contest will be conducted only if a minimum of 3 entries are obtained. Otherwise, the contest will be cancelled.
  • There is an attractive cash prize for the winners of the contest.
  • Participants in individual competitions will have to pay a registration fee of Rs. You have to pay 100-00. Registration fee for each group competition: Rs. 300-00.
  • On the evening of 18th May, there will be 'Cultural Variety'. Contestants can also offer programmes. But our student coordinators should be informed about this in advance.
  • Accommodation will be arranged for the participants on prior request.
  • Meals will be provided to all participants on both days.

Individual Events

1. ON-THE-SCENE (News reporting)

  • The contestants will have to prepare a report for the opening ceremony of the media festival.
  • The report should be within 300 words. A suitable photo should be provided.
  • There will be one hour to prepare the report.

2.LIGHTS, CAMERA & NEWS (TV News Presentation)

  • Participants have to prepare and present a TV bulletin of 3-5 minutes duration.
  • They will be given 30 minutes to prepare the script.
  • News will be provided.

3. THE CHATTERBOX  (Radio Jockey)

  • Each participant will be given 3 minutes.
  • The content will be delivered on the spot.

4. PICTURE PERFECT (Spot Photography)

  • Participants will have to submit two photographs on the given topic.
  • The content will be delivered on the spot.
  • Participants will be given 45 minutes.
  • A camera or mobile phone can be used to capture pictures.

5. CREATIVE BLEND (Poster designing)

  • Participants have to prepare a poster on the given topic.
  • The content will be provided at the time of registration.
  • Posters can be designed using watercolour or collage. If the participants want to do a collage, newspapers/magazines will be supplied.
  • Drawing sheets will be supplied. Candidates should bring the required colours.

6. STORY SPARK (Mini Story Writing)

  • The crux of the story is given on the spot.
  • Contestants have to write a story with a limit of 50 words.
  • There will be half an hour duration.
  • Stories that have already been published are not allowed.
  • No plagiarism
7. Reels Up- Reels Making (Reels Making)

  • A one-minute reel based on the preparation of the team for the media festival and the enthusiasm of the students to participate should be prepared.
  • The contestant has to post it on his Instagram account by 5:00 pm on May 17 and collaborate with the account jmc_tumkur_university_official of our department.
  • The reels link should be sent via WhatsApp to the number given at the time of registration.
  • Prizes will be given based on the quality, functionality and reach of the reels. Figures will be considered until 1-00 p.m. on May 19; But views are not the only criterion.

8.YOURS TRULY-PTC: Piece-to-Camera (PTC: Piece-to-Camera)

  • Participants will have to give 1 minute PTC.
  • The content will be delivered on the spot.


Group Events

1. CEASEFIRE- Debate 

  • Two students from one college/department can participate.
  • One contestant has to speak for the topic and the other against it.
  • Prizes will be assessed for a team consisting of two.
  • Subjects will be offered at the time of registration.
  • The entry fee is Rs. 200.

2. QUIZOLOGICAL - Quiz Competition (Quiz competition)

  • There should be two students in a team.
  • Three teams will be selected for the final round.
  • There will be a preliminary round (written) and a final round (oral).
  • Any number of teams from a college/department can participate in the Preliminary Round.
  • If more than one team from an organization is selected for the final round, only one team will be selected for the final round following the prescribed procedure.
  • The quiz will be about general knowledge, current affairs and media.
  • The entry fee is Rs. 200.

3. SWIFT BOOST- Ad Creation (Instant advertising)

  1. Each team should have 3-5 members.
  2. The teams have to present an advertising short film on the given topic.
  3. The duration lasts one minute. The content will be provided at the time of registration.
  4. The entry fee is Rs. 300.

4. SYNC STEPS- Group Dance 

  • 'Karnataka Vaibhava' – This is the theme of the group dance.
  • There may be 6 to 12 people in a team. A recorded song can be used.
  • Duration is 5+1=6 minutes.
  • The entry fee is Rs. 300.
